SINGAPORE: Singapore students have made a clean sweep of the top spots for the Cambridge Angus Ross Prize.
This year, Amanda Chong Wei Zhen from Hwa Chong Institution is the winner of the prestigious award, which is given for the best performance in the November GCE A-Level English examination by a non-UK candidate.
Three other Singaporeans bagged the second spot. They are David Chan Tar Wei from Raffles Junior College, Tham Zhen Teng from Meridian Junior College and Siti Maziah Masramli from Victoria Junior College.
Unlike previous years, award organisers had found it difficult to decide who deserved to be the runner-up.
Singapore has a strong history of winning the Angus Ross Prize.
Every year, thousands of students from Europe, New Zealand, the Caribbean, Argentina, India and Pakistan sit for the GCE examinations.
