SINGAPORE : This year's annual Shangri-La Dialogue is set to bring together some of the top policy-makers involved in Asian security.

Organised by the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS), the dialogue will be attended by defence ministers, chiefs of defence, foreign ministers and other senior officials from 27 governments. They will be in Singapore from May 30 to June 1 for the 7th Annual Asian Security Summit.

Over the past few years, the US Secretary of Defence has been a regular participant in the dialogue, giving an overview of the US security strategies in the Asia Pacific region.

The Shangri-La Dialogue remains the region's premier security summit. It also creates the environment for legislators, experts, academics and businessmen to engage with senior officials and bring about fresh policy perspectives in regional security. - CNA /ls
