SINGAPORE : The newly-formed Casino Regulatory Authority (CRA) of Singapore has appointed its Chief Executive.

He is Senior Assistant Police Commissioner T. Raja Kumar. His appointment took effect from April 10.

Mr Raja Kumar has held many other positions, including Senior Deputy Director of the Commercial Affairs Department. He was also awarded a silver Public Administration award last year.

The CRA was formed on April 2 as a new statutory board under the Ministry of Home Affairs.

It has been set up to ensure that the operation of a casino remains free from criminal influence.

Other CRA functions include making sure that gaming in a casino is conducted honestly. - CNA/de
