SINGAPORE: For the first time in Singapore and Southeast Asia, art fans can get up close with the works of renowned Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti. The Singapore Art Museum has launched an exhibition showcasing a wide variety of work by the 20th century artist.

Alberto Giacometti, regarded as a path-breaking and provocative artist in his time is best known for his elongated and thin sculptural figures.

Among his peers in surrealist art were Picasso, Joan Miro and Max Ernst.

More than 100 works including lithographs, drawings and rarely seen photographs of the artist at work will be on display.

His art can be found in numerous public collections around the world in institutions like the Kunsthaus Zurich and the Museum of Modern Art in New York.

The exhibition called ‘Seeing. Feeling. Being: Alberto Giacometti’ is open to the public from 1 May to 15 June. It is partnered by the Embassy of Switzerland and Credit Suisse. - CNA/vm
