SINGAPORE: The Commander of the Royal Brunei Navy, Colonel Joharie Haji Matussin, called on Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean on Wednesday morning.

He also met his Singapore counterpart, Chief of Navy, Rear-Admiral Chew Men Leong.

The Ministry of Defence said Colonel Joharie's visit underscores the longstanding and excellent defence relations between the Singapore and Brunei armed forces. The navies of both countries also have close ties.

For his contributions to building strong ties between the two navies, Colonel Joharie was conferred the Pingat Jasa Gemilang (Tentera), or Meritorious Service Medal (Military) in 2005. - CNA/vm
