SINGAPORE: Mother's Day is on May 11, but the celebrations started early on Sunday as nine "yummy mummies" hit the catwalk in a bid to win the "My Lovely Mum" pageant.

Family members turned out in force to show their support as they proudly watched the mothers strut their stuff at Junction 8 Shopping Centre.

Nine finalists were selected from 120 entries. They were judged on their beauty, poise, eloquence and overall presentation.

Contestant number eight - 26-year-old Jasmin Ong - won the title. She will compete at the international grand finals in Shenzhen, China, on May 10.

The mother of two-year-old Elysia will be up against other winning mothers from pageants held at CapitaLand malls in eight cities in China, Malaysia and Japan.

"I consider myself a super mum now because I have won the title and bring my family pride, especially my mother and my daughter, as well as my husband," she said. - CNA/ac
