SINGAPORE: Some Singaporeans are still doing their bit for charity, despite rising food prices.

Sixteen donors forked out over $30,000 to prepare some 2,000 goody bags for the less privileged.

The group of friends, who are not from any charity organisation, took nearly 11 hours to distribute the food packs at 10 locations within Tanjong Pagar constituency.

The bags contain daily necessities like noodles and biscuits.

The group will spend another $30,000 to host some 500 elderly to dinner on May 17 to celebrate Vesak Day. - CNA/de
