SINGAPORE: Art lovers and collectors can now do their bit for the quake victims in Sichuan.

Local art gallery, Jasmine Fine Arts, will donate 5 percent of the proceeds from its exhibition to the Singapore Red Cross.

Launching the appeal on Thursday, actor and art collector Qi Yuwu - who is a Chinese national and had starred in the hit movie "881" - said he had come up with the idea of a donation drive.

"I shared my ideas with my friend Jasmine and she readily agreed to help. As Jasmine was holding an exhibition called 'Road to Beijing', which features the works of many Sichuan artists, it's a timely coincidence," he said.

The art exhibition showcases the works of renowned Chinese contemporary artists such as Xue Song, Guo Wei and Yang Jingsong. The art pieces cost between S$14,000 and S$196,000.

This exhibition ends on May 28.
