SINGAPORE: The temporary Tekka Market, located at Race Course Road, was officially opened on Sunday morning.

Senior Minister of State for Education Lui Tuck Yew, who is also a Member of Parliament for the area, graced the opening.

The temporary market houses 267 stalls – about half of the number of stalls at the original market at Buffalo Road.

When renovations at the original Tekka Market are completed under the National Environment Agency's Hawker Centres Upgrading Programme, 447 stall owners will return to resume their businesses.
