SINGAPORE: The Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease (HFMD) seems to be stabilising with fewer cases being reported. As at 3pm on Tuesday, the number of HFMD cases stood at 44.

One more preschool was ordered to close. NTUC Childcare Co-operative in Sengkang at Blk 101 Rivervale Walk, will close from May 22 to May 31 to break the chain of virus transmission.

Two more childcare centres have also been asked to close voluntarily during the same period. They are PCF Admiralty at Block 581 Woodlands Drive 16 and Maris Kindergarten at Block 745 Bedok Reservoir Road.

The good news is that the number of HFMD cases has dipped over the past week.

On May 16, 126 cases were reported. This went down to 80 on May 17 and 37 on May 18. And on May 19, there were 13 cases. - CNA/vm
