SINGAPORE: The Olympic Torch Relay will resume on Thursday in China after a three-day suspension due to the national mourning for the Sichuan earthquake victims.
The Beijing Olympic torch relay will restart from the port city of Ningbo in eastern Zhejiang province. However, the authorities have not clarified how they plan to make up for the three-day suspension.
The four torch bearers from Singapore are engineer Kamal Akhtar, a three-time winner of the Samsung torch bearer contest, Channel NewsAsia Sports Reporter Patwant Singh, and telco heads Terry Clontz from StarHub and Neil Montefiore from M1.
SingTel CEO Allen Lew had to pull out due to work commitments.
