SINGAPORE: Singapore will host the world's first festival dedicated to 3D movies and technologies.

The 3DX: 3D Film & Entertainment Technology Festival, which will run from November 19 to 23, will showcase a wide variety of 3D movies, documentaries and animation.

The live action adventure, "Journey to the Centre of the Earth", starring Brendan Fraser and the family animation movie, "Fly Me to the Moon", are among the films that will be screened.

The festival will also include conferences and exhibition of a variety of new products such as 3D mobile phones and video games.

Christopher Chia, chief executive officer of Media Development Authority (MDA), said: "The festival bridges the East and the West, bringing Asian and Western producers and makers of 3D content together, making Singapore the focal point for the exchange of ideas on 3D content production, developments and technology."

Jim Chabin of Chabin Partners, the executive producer of 3DX, said Singapore is seen as a respected leader in digital technology and visionary business advancement.

"We are bringing innovators from Hollywood, Bollywood, Asia, the UK, Australia, Europe, and other world entertainment communities together to advance this new art form and industry," said Mr Chabin.

Tickets for the festival will go on sale from September 1. Registration and ticket information can be found online at
www.3dxfestival.com from August 15.
