SINGAPORE : To celebrate its 120th anniversary, Fairfield Methodist Primary School is attempting to break three Guinness World Records.

Firstly, they are hoping to set the record for the longest Contra Line in the world. Some 1,200 students, teachers and parents took part in a bid to beat the current record of just over 1,000 participants.

The record is currently held by a school in Hong Kong, which had 1,048 people dancing to the song "YMCA" last November.

Fairfield Methodist Primary is also gunning for the "longest painting by numbers" trophy, at 660 metres in length. The current record is 599.94 metres, set by a school in India last March.

And finally, 1,800 participants simultaneously played Sudoku for 10 minutes. The last record was set in the USA in 2007, where only 857 people took part.

The events were witnessed by two independent observers on Friday. The school intends to send its application to the Guinness World Records for assessment. - CNA/ms
