SINGAPORE: President S R Nathan has conferred the Distinguished Service Order (Military) or Darjah Utama Bakti Cemerlang (Tentera) on the Supreme Commander of the Royal Thai Armed Forces, General Boonsrang Niumpradit, at the Istana.
According to Singapore's Defence Ministry, General Boonsrang was awarded Singapore's highest military award on Thursday for his outstanding contributions and commitment to strengthening ties between the armed forces of both countries.
Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean, Permanent Secretary for Defence Development Dr Tan Kim Siew and Chief of Defence Force Lieutenant-General Desmond Kuek were also present at the investiture, along with senior military officials from both countries.
General Boonsrang, who is on an official visit to Singapore from August 6 to 7, also called on Mr Teo and LG Kuek earlier in the day.
