SINGAPORE : Despite news of falling employment rates, some companies may be bucking the trend.

A record 90 of them are participating at the latest "JobsCentral Career & Learning Fair" - compared to 70 companies last year.

Organisers said an overwhelming number of jobseekers turned up when the two-day job fair opened on Saturday morning.

More than 50,000 of them swarmed the hall at Suntec Convention Centre.

The exhibition is said to be the largest of its kind targeting job seekers at the professional level.

Companies offering jobs include eBay, Sime Darby and MediaCorp - which is taking part for the first time.

MediaCorp has over 30 positions available, including those in the news department.

The fair will run till the end of Sunday. - CNA/ms
