SINGAPORE : Singapore is gearing up for the first ever Formula One (F1) night race next month.

The Singapore River area, which is part of the F1 racing circuit, is set to come alive with a kaleidoscope of colours.

Cavenagh Bridge, Elgin Bridge and Read Bridge will will be lit up, as part of efforts to add vibrancy to the Singapore River.

The first phase of the light-up began in April this year, and the entire project is slated for completion before the F1 race takes off.

The lighting system will allow for the bridges to be lit in different colours and patterns to suit different occasions.

The underpass connecting Boat Quay, Clark Quay and Empress Place will also be lit up.

The project is expected to cost a few million Singapore dollars. - CNA /ls
