SINGAPORE: 800 halal date mooncakes will be offered to some 700 participants at a community event on Sunday.

Dr Amy Khor, Mayor of South West District, and 30 non-Muslim students from Nan Hua High School made 250 of these mooncakes on Wednesday.

Before the students started work on the mooncakes, they attended a briefing on Islamic culture and went on a guided tour in a mosque.

The rest of the mooncakes will be made by NTUC Foodfare.
