TIANJIN, China: Singapore and China agreed on Thursday to work together to ensure that their flagship project, the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), continues to be one of the leading industrial parks in China.
Both sides also agreed to deepen cooperation in new and existing areas at the SIP 10th Joint Steering Council (JSC) Meeting in Tianjin, which was co-chaired by Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister Wong Kan Seng and China's Vice-Premier Wang Qishan.
The JSC also discussed plans to celebrate the 15th anniversary of SIP with events in Suzhou and Singapore next year.
In addition to that, the council welcomed plans for joint venture company China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park Development (CSSD) to list in China next year.
In the latest China Ministry of Commerce survey, SIP was again ranked amongst the top development zones nationwide. Since 1994, SIP has attracted more than 3,000 companies to invest some US$27 billion in the park.
