SINGAPORE : A man has been sentenced to 15 months in jail for selling illegal DVDs, computer software and games.

50-year-old Lee Eng Seng was caught selling them at a retail outlet in Clementi in May this year.

Lee was caught along with Choy Kum Weng, the shop owner at the Clementi outlet.

Choy was sentenced in June to 39 months' jail after pleading guilty to the same offences under the Singapore Films and Copyright Acts.

The 42-year-old received a higher sentence as he was also linked to an earlier raid of another shop in Clementi selling pirated discs in October 2007.

The two men were caught as a result of a raid conducted by Intellectual Property Rights Branch (IPRB) officers, who seized more than 6,000 pirated discs in May. - CNA/ms
