SINGAPORE: This year's President's Star Charity Show, broadcast live on MediaCorp Channel 5 on Sunday evening, got off to a swinging start with a taste of the Fifties and Sixties.

Singapore Idol Taufik Batisah and young dancers from Jazzkids put on the Ritz with a toe-tapping number, while Kim Ng sang the classic Ja Jam Bo.

Proceeds from the show will go to 31 charities, including the Assisi Hospice which looks after terminally-ill children and adults, and the Rainbow Centre which provides education for children with special needs. - CNA/de
