SINGAPORE: Singapore's Tao Li has broken the World Cup series record in the 100 metre butterfly event with her time of 56.28 seconds.

She smashed the previous record of 56.3422 seconds set by American Natalie Coughlin in 2002 in New York.

The world record is 55.74 seconds set by Libby Trickett.

18-year-old Tao Li achieved her latest feat at the Fina/Arena World Cup Berlin leg.

At the start of November, Tao Li won her first gold in the Singapore leg with a time of 56.85 seconds

She then travelled to Russia last week, where she achieved a silver, with a
58.50-second timing in the Moscow leg.

Last Tuesday, at the Stockholm leg, she bagged her second gold for the 100-metre butterfly event.

So far, Tao Li has won three golds and a silver in the 100-metre butterfly event and 2 bronzes for the 50-metre butterfly in the World Cup series.
