SINGAPORE: Paralympic medallists Yip Pin Xiu and Laurentia Tan received their Athletes Achievement Awards in Singapore on Friday evening.

For winning a gold medal at the Paralympic Games in Beijing this year, Yip received S$150,000, while bronze winner Tan received S$37,500.

Both athletes were awarded three quarters of the cash rewards.

The remaining 25 per cent – amounting to S$62,500 – will be used by the Singapore National Paralympic Council (SNPC) to develop potential paralympic athletes.
