SINGAPORE: The American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore celebrated Corporate Community Day on Saturday by organising more than 1,000 volunteers from 31 companies to work with local charities.

And as part of the cause, the US Ambassador to Singapore, Patricia Herbold, and MP Josephine Teo joined volunteers to help the charities.

It may be all financial gloom in the markets, but the American Chamber of Commerce is hoping it can raise awareness about volunteering in the community via such events.

Altogether, 27 separate charity events were organised on Saturday. - CNA/vm
