SINGAPORE: Flights into Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi International Airport have been diverted to either Chiang Mai, Phuket or other airports.

Reports said Thai authorities have closed the capital's airport after 2,000 anti-government protesters stormed the terminal.

A spokesperson said all airlines have been informed of the changes.

In Singapore, the last flight out to Bangkok from Changi International Airport took off just after 10pm on Tuesday.

It is not clear whether the flight, operated by AirAsia, would be affected by the closure at Bangkok.

A spokesperson from JetStar Asia said the airline would be cancelling both its Singapore flights to Bangkok on Wednesday. The flights have been scheduled to leave Changi Terminal One at 7.15am and at 6.50pm.

The company said passengers would get a full refund.

For those who have to be in Bangkok urgently, the airline will fly them out at the first available flight. - CNA/de
