S$1m worth of heroin seized in drug bust

SINGAPORE : The Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) has seized 4.8 kilogrammes of heroin with a street value of about S$1 million, the third largest seizure of heroin this year.

Nine drug offenders were arrested during the operation on Thursday.

According to the CNB, the syndicate leader is a 31-year-old Singaporean man with previous drug records.

One of the men arrested is currently under investigation for importing a controlled drug, while the syndicate leader and his three associates are suspected of trafficking in a controlled drug.

All five will face the death penalty if convicted. - CNA /ls
