SINGAPORE: Singapore would be glad to explore ways to strengthen bilateral co-operation with North Korea in areas such as trade and investment once international concerns were assuaged and the environment improved.

Making the point to the visiting North Korean Foreign Trade Minister Ri Ryong Nam on Monday, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong also encouraged North Korea to enhance its relations with other countries, especially countries in Northeast Asia.

He said this would further strengthen investors' confidence and create even more economic opportunities for the country.

Minister Ri briefed Mr Goh on economic developments in his country and possible investment opportunities for Singapore companies.

The Senior Minister's press secretary said both leaders reaffirmed the good relations between Singapore and North Korea. - CNA/vm
