SINGAPORE: The hereditary Imam of the Shia Ismaili community, the Aga Khan, is in Singapore for a 3-day visit beginning Monday.

Singapore's Foreign Affairs Ministry says this is his third visit to Singapore.

He was here in 1983 as part of his Silver Jubilee celebrations and made a private visit in 1987.

While in Singapore, the Aga Khan will call on President S R Nathan, Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong, Foreign Minister George Yeo and Minister-in-charge of Muslim Affairs Yaacob Ibrahim.

The Aga Khan will also celebrate his Golden Jubilee with the Ismaili community from the Asia Pacific region, to commemorate the 50th year of his accession to the Imamat.
