MM Lee meets China's foreign minister in HK

MM Lee visiting Hong Kong from December 1-3

SINGAPORE: Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew met Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi in Hong Kong Tuesday morning.

Mr Yang thanked Mr Lee for making special effort to visit Hong Kong after his pacemaker surgery on Saturday.

He also conveyed to Mr Lee warm regards from Chinese President Hu Jintao and Premier Wen Jiabao.

Mr Yang and Mr Lee discussed the impact of the recent financial crisis on Asia as well as other global issues.

Mr Yang told Mr Lee that China and Singapore have enjoyed excellent bilateral relations over the years, with collaborations on many development projects, such as the Suzhou Industrial Park and Tianjin Eco-City.
