SINGAPORE: With the festive season just round the corner, the police are advising the public to remain vigilant against crime.

The police say shoppers should avoid exposing cash, valuables and jewellery when shopping in crowded areas.

They should ensure that bags and other personal belongings are secured and not left unattended.

The public should also be wary of opportunists who may commit molest in crowds.

When going on vacation, Singaporeans are encouraged to take precautionary measures to enhance the security of their homes during their absence.

They should install good quality locks to secure gates, doors and windows.
