SINGAPORE: The three-month traffic diversion trial which started on September 15 to improve traffic flow at Woodlands Centre Road will be extended to 31 January 2009. This is in view of the school holidays and the upcoming festive season.

However, no changes will be made to the current traffic arrangements.

Like before, motorists who wish to enter the Woodlands Checkpoint via Woodlands Centre Road will not be allowed to turn into Woodlands Crossing during the restriction hours.

Instead, they should use alternative routes via Old Woodlands Road or the Bukit Timah Expressway.

Motorcycles and heavy vehicles will be restricted at all times.

School and public transport buses will have no restrictions, while all other vehicles will be restricted from 4pm-10pm, Mondays to Fridays and 10am -10pm, on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.

Motorists are reminded to follow the traffic signs displayed at Woodlands Centre Road and along roads leading to the Woodlands Checkpoint.

Auxiliary police officers will be stationed to help guide motorists during the affected periods.

The public can contact the Traffic Police at 1800-547-1818 or LTA at 1800-225-5582 for enquiries.
