SINGAPORE: Even as Christmas festivities continue, some neighbourhood retailers are already moving ahead with the sale of Lunar New Year goods.

That is because Lunar New Year falls in January in the coming year.

But more importantly, retailers want sales to start early because of the slowing economy and the uncertainty of sales numbers.

Neighbourhood retailers said sales during the Christmas period went down 20 per cent.

Some are planning to organise performances and lucky draws in hope that Lunar New Year sales will be better.
