SINGAPORE : Singapore's Foreign Ministry has urged all parties in the Gaza conflict to exercise maximum restraint and work towards an early re-establishment of the ceasefire.

Its spokesman has expressed deep concern about the situation there with mounting civilian casualties and the possibility of a humanitarian catastrophe.

In response to media queries, the spokesman added that once a ceasefire can be achieved, Singapore hopes there will not be a repetition of the events that also resulted in the loss of many innocent lives and led to the current escalation of conflict. - CNA/ms
