SINGAPORE: A police inspector with the Bedok Police Division was charged in court on Wednesday with bribery.

He had allegedly accepted S$5,000 from a suspect, through his friend, in return for being lenient in the investigation.

The inspector was, at that time, in charge of the Commercial Crime Squad.

In a statement, the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB) said the officer was also accused of using the police force's computer system without authorisation to get the residential addresses of his former girlfriends and the ex-husband of one of those former girlfriends.
