SINGAPORE: A 26-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the murder of his two-year-old daughter, Natalie Nikie Alisyia Sallehan.

The suspect has not been charged as police investigations are still underway.

Police were called to investigate the case at about 8.45pm on Tuesday after the toddler was admitted to the National University Hospital. It is believed that the girl had bruises on her body.

She was found unconscious at her Boon Lay Drive home by civil defence officers. A family member, believed to be the victim's mother, had called for medical assistance.

The girl was pronounced dead at 9.30pm.

Neighbours of the victim's family at Block 191 Boon Lay Drive said they were shocked when police showed up late Tuesday evening. They said they had not noticed anything amiss that evening.

When the Channel NewsAsia's news team visited the victim's residence, the well-kept flat was empty.

Neighbours said the victim's family had moved into their home last October and described them as friendly.
