SINGAPORE : Like many other businesses, those selling hampers are also seeing poor demand.

To cut cost, they are getting creative with packaging methods - using pre-made die-cut packaging instead of plastic sheets and manual decoration.

This helps to halve production time.

Shrink wrap is also being used instead of clear sheets, reducing manpower time by about 30 per cent.

Using such methods, a major hamper company managed to hire half the number of part-time workers it needs, compared to previous years. - CNA/ms
