Singapore condemns terrorist attack at Midan Hussein in Cairo

SINGAPORE: Singapore has strongly condemned the terrorist bomb attack at Midan Hussein in Cairo on Sunday evening.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry said in a statement on Monday that the attack clearly targeted innocent civilians, and extended deepest condolences to all the victims and their families.

It added that the number of casualties is not fully determined but the Egyptian media has reported one killed and 25 injured, comprising mostly foreigners and several Egyptians.

So far, there are no reports of Singaporean casualties, and the Singapore Embassy in Cairo is in contact with the Egyptian authorities and closely monitoring the situation.

The ministry statement said that Singapore stands with the international community in supporting the continued efforts of Egypt to combat terrorism.
