PM Lee sends condolences to Italian PM after earthquake

SINGAPORE: Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has expressed his condolences to Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi after Monday’s earthquake in Italy.

In his letter, Mr Lee said Singaporeans are saddened to learn about the loss of lives and destruction caused by the earthquake that struck L'Aquila and its surrounding region on Monday morning.

He also extended Singapore's deepest sympathies to the government and people of Italy at this difficult time.

Mr Lee said Singaporeans' thoughts are especially with those who have lost loved ones, or have been injured, in this natural calamity.
