SINGAPORE: Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong has been admitted to the Singapore General Hospital for chicken pox.

The Prime Minister's Office said doctors decided to put Mr Goh in an isolation ward because chicken pox, which is caused by the varicella zoster virus, can be transmitted through an airborne route.

The statement added that the Senior Minister's condition is satisfactory and he is expected to be discharged in about a week.
