DPM Wong to attend Suzhou Industrial Park 15th anniversary event

SINGAPORE : Deputy Prime Minister and Home Affairs Minister Wong Kan Seng will visit China from Sunday till Tuesday.

He will attend the Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP) 15th anniversary celebrations.

A Trade and Industry Ministry statement said Mr Wong will be accompanied by Minister of State for Trade and Industry and Manpower Lee Yi Shyan, as well as officials from the Ministry of Trade and Industry, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Enterprise Singapore and JTC.

The 15th Anniversary Celebrations for the SIP project will be held on Tuesday, with a Commemorative Ceremony in Suzhou.

Mr Wong and Chinese Vice-Premier Wang Qishan, in their capacity as co-chairmen of the SIP Joint Steering Council, will be at the ceremony.

During his visit, Mr Wong will also witness a signing cum groundbreaking ceremony for the Singapore-Nanjing Eco High-Tech Island together with Jiangsu Party Secretary Liang Baohua.

In addition, Mr Wong will witness the groundbreaking ceremony for the Suzhou-Nantong High Tech Park, together with Mr Liang. - CNA/ms
