SINGAPORE: Singapore has been named the "Best Sightseeing City in Asia Pacific" in 2009.

The title was given out at the Seoul Tourism Awards 2009 on Thursday.

Organisers said Singapore has several winning factors, including an active MICE industry and infrastructure.

At the same award ceremony, Singapore Tourism Board's
website also won the "Best Website of City Tourism Promotion in Asia-Pacific".

Judges said the online portal has a variety of content, and user-friendly interface offering 16 different languages.

The Seoul Tourism Awards recognises the best urban tourism service promotion in the Asia Pacific region.

Winners were selected through expert recommendations and votes from the public. - CNA/vm
