SINGAPORE: Companies which follow the tripartite guidelines on H1N1 will not only ensure their employees stay protected against the virus but it will also act as a safeguard for their businesses.
NTUC's Deputy Secretary-General Halimah Yacob said this at a community event in Jurong on Sunday.
She said the manufacturing sector will be the worst affected by the current situation.
She said while it is possible to move employees involved in administration departments, those working in the operations and production departments will find it more challenging because their work flow offers less flexibility.
However, Madam Halimah added that it is always better to take more precautions than necessary.
She said companies should also use these guidelines as an opportunity to exercise social responsibility.
"If a person has not contracted H1N1 but is suspected of being exposed, then it is in the company's interest to make sure the person goes on leave rather than come back and... expose everyone to the possibility of the H1N1 infection as well," she said.
