SINGAPORE : SAFFC widened their lead at the top of the S.League table as goals from some unlikely quarters earned them a 3-1 win over Albirex Niigata (Singapore) at Jurong East Stadium on Friday evening.

The Warriors overcame the early loss of midfield general Therdsak Chaiman, as Shaiful Esah and Syed Karim both stepped up to the plate and delivered a goal apiece to put them 2-0 up at the interval.

Wingback Zulfadli Zainal Abidin then scored his second goal in three games with 15 minutes to go, thus clinching the points that put SAFFC four points ahead of Gombak United, who play on Saturday.

Tetsuya Kishida salvaged some pride for the Japanese outfit with a consolation goal in injury time. - sleague
