SINGAPORE : SAFFC maintained their assault towards a fourth consecutive S.League title on Sunday evening with a 2-0 win at home over Sengkang Punggol.
Both goals came courtesy of Warriors captain Aleksandar Duric, who has strengthened his own bid for a third straight league top-scorer award by reaching the 18-goal mark.
After holding SAFFC for much of the first half, Sengkang fell behind two minutes before the break when Duric collected the ball from a free kick and took a shot that went in off Dolphins defender Jerry Bartholomeusz.
The 38-year-old then secured the points for his side five minutes into the second half, when his weak shot off a Park Tae Won cross was allowed to roll in off an upright.
In a separate match, Woodlands Wellington scored their third consecutive 2-1 victory in the S.League as they saw off bottom side Balestier Khalsa at Woodlands Stadium.
The result was enough to lift them to seventh spot, just one point behind the Super Reds, as they continued their mid-season revival.
Precious Emuejeraye opened the scoring for the Rams on 19 minutes, when he met a Daniel Hammond cross with a looping header that beat Balestier goalkeeper Lee Heng Huat.
Hammond then converted a penalty on 76 minutes to secure the points for the Rams, before Oh In Kyun grabbed a consolation goal for Balestier from a free kick. - sleague.com
