SINGAPORE: Singapore has strongly condemned Friday's multiple attacks in Jakarta.

In a statement, Singapore's Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) said Singapore extends its sympathies to all victims and their families, and stand in solidarity with the Indonesian government against all acts of terrorism.

It added that these attacks serve as a stark reminder of the threat that terrorism continues to pose to all countries. As of 2pm, there are no reports of Singaporean casualties.

MFA and the Singapore Embassy in Jakarta are monitoring the situation, and are in touch with several Singaporeans staying at the Ritz-Carlton and JW Marriott hotels.

The ministry said it is continuing with efforts to contact Singaporeans in Jakarta who have registered with the ministry, while its Embassy is keeping in touch with the Singaporean community in Jakarta.

MFA said friends and relatives of Singaporeans in Jakarta can call the MFA hotline at 6332-0000, or the Embassy at 6221-2995-0400.

It added that Singaporeans who are unable to avoid travelling to Jakarta and other parts of Indonesia should exercise vigilance and monitor developments at their intended destinations through the local news.

Moreover, Singaporeans who are travelling to Indonesia should register with MFA through its
website.

The ministry also encouraged all Singaporeans travelling abroad to purchase comprehensive medical and travel insurance.
