SINGAPORE: Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has sent condolences to Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono in the wake of Friday's Jakarta bomb attacks.

Prime Minister Lee said in a letter that he was shocked and saddened to learn of the bomb explosions at the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels that have left at least nine people dead.

He added that Singapore strongly condemned the wanton acts of violence, and that these served as a stark reminder that terrorist groups remain an ongoing and common threat.

He said that Singapore is ready to assist Indonesia in any way possible, and fully supports Indonesia's efforts to bring the perpetrators to justice. - CNA/ms
