SINGAPORE: Flying the national flag is no longer limited to the window of your home. A local festive gift company hopes to get 20,000 cars to fly the Singapore flag by selling flags that are made to fit vehicles.

Local company Alfestco has found a way to display your national pride while you are on the road through its "National Car Flag Project".

Ian Choo, director and co-founder of Alfestco, said: "Cars are mobile vehicles. You reach out to a lot - the visibility is very good, so I think that combined effect when we have enough vehicles putting on these car flags, that would be quite marvellous."

But are most Singaporeans willing to display the flags on their cars?

"It's very patriotic, it's a way to show that we love Singapore and it's about time we did something like this... something new and interesting," said one Singaporean.

A taxi driver said: "Especially when I am picking up tourists from the airport, I'll feel a sense of pride when they see the flag."

Each year, the Singapore flag may be flown on vehicles during National Day celebrations period from July to September.
