SINGAPORE: With the Singapore Pledge in the limelight for this year's National Day Parade, organisers want to gather all Singaporeans to stop whatever they are doing to say the pledge on Singapore's 44th Birthday.

The Pledge Moment will arrive on August 9 at exactly 8.22pm, when Singaporeans are invited to spend 30 seconds reciting the pledge.

MediaCorp's 12 radio stations and all six TV channels, including TV Mobile, will stop regular programmes to bring The Pledge Moment 'live'.

The National Day Parade, which is traditionally aired on MediaCorp TV and Radio in English, Malay, Mandarin and Tamil, will also be broadcast 'live' online, via a streaming microsite.

Starting August 1, TV and radio trailers, as well as print and online advertisements on the Pledge Moment, will be shown on MediaCorp's multiple platforms.

The Civil Defence will also mark the Pledge Moment by sounding its 'chime' through its island-wide Public Warning System.

Six hundred and fifteen partner locations from both local and overseas will also make announcements to remind the public of the pledge moment.
