SINGAPORE: While the big birthday bash was taking place at Marina Bay, some heartlanders like the Gohs celebrated Singapore's National Day by having their own little parties at home.
The Gohs didn't have tickets to this year's National Day Parade. But they celebrated Singapore's 44th birthday with family, friends and neighbours.
The Gohs started preparing the food for the barbecue party since Wednesday.
From the food to the decorations, everything was planned with Singapore's national colours in mind. And, those invited to the party turned up in red and white.
The hosts said the Singapore spirit amongst the 20 guests at the party was strong.
Mabel Goh said: "Marina (Bay Floating) platform, you actually go there to watch the show, nothing else. Here, you actually bond with friends, family. I've got my neighbours coming over, they are actually PR (Permanent Residents)."
Although preparations took five days, planning for the party took three weeks.
But for the Gohs, the effort and time spent to celebrate Singapore's birthday was definitely worth it.
