SINGAPORE: In another sign that the economy is showing signs of stabilisation, Singapore's wholesale trade rebounded in the second quarter.
Data released by the Department of Statistics showed that foreign wholesale trade increased by a seasonally-adjusted 6.7 per cent in the second quarter compared to the first quarter.
The statistics department said most major sectors registered higher sales during the three months to June.
Domestic wholesale trade also rose, with the index climbing 7.3 per cent on-quarter.
When compared to the same period a year ago, foreign wholesale trade dropped 31.6 per cent, while domestic wholesale trade declined 28.1 per cent. This was due to lower sales of petroleum, chemical products and electronic components.
