SINGAPORE: Singapore consumers are growing more confident of an economic recovery.
The latest Nielsen Global Consumer Confidence Survey on Tuesday showed that optimism in Singapore has improved in recent months.
Its consumer confidence index rose to 87 in the second quarter, up from an all-time low of 80 earlier this year.
While job security and the economy remain the top two worries among Singaporeans, the improvement in the index reflected that levels of concern have eased to some extent in the past few months.
The Nielsen survey showed that consumer sentiments around the world are similarly on the mend.
Overall, the global confidence index rose 5 points to 82 in the second quarter.
This was spurred by renewed consumer optimism and stock market gains in BRIC and other key Asian markets.
